Brief Description

The Mariano Ponce sculpture now located in front of the Municipal Hall was sculpted by Pedro Carreon, son of Roman Carreon. It shows Ponce in a standing position holding his cane on his right hand and his overcoat and books on his left hand.


Significance


The Mariano Ponce Monument is one of the monuments of Mariano Ponce in Baliwag. (The other one is in Plaza Naning). Mariano Ponce is a local of Baliwag who greatly contributed to the revolution and in attaining the democracy for the Philippines. He was a propagandist who co-founded La Solidaridad. The Monument serves as a symbol of Mariano Ponce’s life and works as a Filipino hero and patriot.
