Brief Description


A marker was installed and unveiled on April 11, 2019 to give importance to the Battle of the Tanks that happened here in 1941.


Significance


The first Battle of the Tanks between the Americans and the Japanese in the Philippines during World War II took place in Baliwag on December 31, 1941.The American Forces with the help of the Filipinos emerged as the victorious one in this battle that prevented significant further advancement of the Japanese forces. Eight tanks of the Sonoda Forces succumbed to the Platoon Company C 192nd Tank Battalion and the 71st Division of the Philippine Scouts.
